Walking Partners - 1

Ok, let me start with this question.

Have you ever gone on a walk?

For pleasure, exercise, family outing etc etc….. for anything for that matter.

I always thought I hated walking. Like who will purposefully get up in the morning, put on the walking clothes (if you are of that category of having different set of attire for walking) and shoes, go to the nearest lake or park with the walkway and walk …. Like just walk!!!

But sorry to burst your bubble my dear, I came to know that I love walking. And please don’t make a mistake that I love walking because it is so good for my health. No!... absolutely not, please don’t categorize me like that. I like walking because it is entertaining.

Yes, it is. And you cant change my mind about it. I am going to die on that hill of belief.

We walkers (Yes, I can term myself as a “walker” even though am a novice in it) have our own world, our own set of rules – unsaid of course, our own people and companions. And wow!! What a different, magical, mysterious world it is. We should really have some kind of union to charge people to see this world. (Maybe I should start one???)

We have slow walkers, fast walkers, train walkers, group walkers, lazy walkers, slouchy walkers, couple walkers, family walkers……….

And there you can see that one person whose walking style is never the same, their stride changes every few minutes and she seems distracted all the time. Well that is me, yours truly walking for the music.

And yes I am the category mentioned above who has her separate walking attire, headphones which has a hook to stay on my ear, because obviously universe could not give me normal ears where these wireless teeny tiny headphones would sit and make me look cool to everyone. No, she decided that everytime I put the headphones in my ear, it will just slip down like that poorly stuck hairpin in the precarious hairbun. Or if I force it to stay by jamming it into my ears, it will start paining.

Anyways, enough about my grudge against headphones especially Airpods (don’t ask me).

 Where was I ?

Oh yes, I need music or an audio book to listen to while walking, even though I admire nature I get distracted very fast, and while am walking with music, I feel like they are singing for me to walk. I walk to the beat so I have a specially curated playlist with beats which works perfectly for my speed and stride.
SO if you ever see me walking fast, then slow then wandering around, please understand am not crazy am just walking to the particular song in my ear.

In all these many years of walking on and off as per the mood I have always noticed that walkers have their own rules.

We always see the ground and walk, not because we are cautious of not tripping, but we don’t want to make an eye contact with a stranger. So we are quite familiar with all the shoes and their owners. We see the turn of the shoe to decide which side they prefer when we are crossing from opposite ends. And we search for those people who we generally see on our walk, but never smile or acknowledge them.

They are like those blurry background people of our lives. We want to be sure they are fine by seeing them there, and will wonder what happened when we feel their absence, but we will never indulge in a friendship. (there are of course exceptions to it, am not the exception).

I really wish I can photograph them, but then again I am already the weird one on the trail I dont want to be the crazy one that people will warn others to avoid.

And with this I conclude, I love walking not because it is SO healthy, but because…… It is entertaining (You know it if you know it).

Silence

Silence was something she associated with very well. She was a calm, patient person from the moment she opened her eyes. Through family, schools and college, silence was something everybody expected of her. The major part of her small world was silent and she loved it. Married to a soft and calm guy, gave her leave to be silent further in her life. She loved her routine silent life and didn’t want to change a thing in it. Silence had a capacity to soothe her, it had a depth to allure her. Until one day.... Sadvi was feeling nauseous and tired that day, her health was her strong point. She was a very very healthy person and she worked well to keep it like that. But that day was different. She didn’t want to dwell on that so she took a leave and took rest. Felt happy that Sourav wanted to stay back to look after her, but she shooed him away and took rest. Her condition didn’t improve the next day or the next day or the next day. On the fourth day she finally decided to vi

Am fine...........

" Hi, friends, welcome to my story. Name is Sangeetha. This is the 143rd day of my hospitalization, am paralyzed from waist down and as far as the whispers go, I don't have much time left to finish paralyzing my whole ..........   Sangeetha saw that her mother who was holding handycam was shedding tears silently...   "Ma, what happened...???.... Ma, mamma, oh come on, don't cry......... Look at me mom... look am smiling, don't worry you will be fine.... "   and she smiled at her mom encouraging her to do the same. When her mother gave the most insincere smile of the world, she said in a soothing voice.    "Okay, close the handycam and come sit by me. We will finish recording after sometime. Now you tell me the story of how you met dad again."   Sujatha smiled back to her only daughter and she stopped recording, when she closed the screen the camera was blinking 7:43 a.m.     Exactly One year later....................

One summer afternoon...

This post has been published by me as a part of Blog-a-Ton 55 ; the fifty-fifth edition of the online marathon of Bloggers; where we decide and we write. In association with Rashmi Kumar , the author of Hooked, Lined and Single and Jyoti Arora , the author of Lemon Girl . . Saritha looked up towards the clear sky, there was not a speck of cloud just sparkling blue. She mumbled to herself "looks like it might rain" . Then she shouted looking towards the balcony "Ramya, bring down the clothes. Looks like it might rain" Ramya who was cleaning the balcony peeked up towards the sky to see clear beautiful blue, she frowned and shouted back "Its ok ma, it is still very sunny. Let the clothes dry" It was a typical saturday afternoon in Ramnath Rao's house. Saritha was in the kitchen clearing up the dishes, Ramya was cleaning some part of the house, Chintu was already down for the afternoon nap, Ramesh was working on his computer and Ra
